About This Pipe

Former sailor turned pipe maker Jens "Tao" Nielsen pulls heavily on his Danish roots for his style, while adding a touch of compact muscularity that makes much of his work pocket friendly. His pipes are renowned across the world for their precise linework and Nielsen's unrivaled attention to detail. This Bulldog from Nielsen is a beautiful piece of borderline Nosewarmer length. While it is compact in build, it doesn't suffer for chamber capacity, nor does it lack in palm-filling substance. Like many other Bulldogs in the Danish artisan's portfolio, two of the diamond shank's panels continue into the bowl and rise a bit of the way up its flanks. Unlike many other artisans, Nielsen has finished the top portion of the chamber like he has the outside of the stummel. The effect is glorious, with the flame grain within resembling water tumbling over the edge of a waterfall. The grain on the stummel's outside is equally exquisite: Gorgeous streaks of straight grain encircle the bowl, while fine, tangled filaments of birdseye blow across the stummel's top and bottom like thick smoke. To complete the ensemble, the junction has been adorned with a slim mammoth tooth accent. With this pipe, Tao has demonstrated not only his excellent eye for shaping the briar according to the grain within, but also his talent for working with alternative materials. It's an all around excellent pipe, sure to be the delight of any discerning smoker's collection.
