Another great name in Danish pipe making, Kurt Balleby offers a range of traditional Danish designs, transformed through his own unique, stylistic lens. Kurt imbues traditional forms with an often playfully gestural, yet undeniably tight-knit, structured disposition, the result of a combination of easy curvature and crisp linework operating harmoniously with one another.
Employing rich contrast stains and low-profile, Danish-style sandblasted finishes, Kurt's pieces showcase the best of both form and grain. A tedious perfectionist, Kurt limits his output to around 80-100 pipes a year. His highest-tiered pieces are numbered and date stamped. The first two numbers are the serial number, and the second two are the production year. On average, he makes around three to six of his highest grade each year, and they're numbered and dated.
