Jody Davis is a man of many talents. In addition to his pipe making pursuits, he is an award-winning musician with three Grammy nominations. As a carver of pipes, his distinct style steeped in Danish aesthetics and his high quality artisanship have propelled him to an exalted status in the pipe world and elevated the popularity of American artisan pipe making. Typical of Davis' style, this Fish is a brawny, Nosewarmer-length rendering of the shape. In the Danish fashion, a comfortable curve underscores the pipe from fore rim to shank face, all the better to conform nicely to the palm. The bowl is a thick, Egg-like form, housing a modest chamber. Below said bowl, a gorgeous panel flows from the heel and into the shank face, showing off smooth birdseye gracing the panel's broad surface. Out back, the wide teardrop shank lifts from a parabolic transition, with the shape's signature ridgeline forming said shank's right flank. Matching the shape of the shank, the saddle stem's base is shaped like a teardrop, and its contrasting black hue helps to emphasize said shape.
