About This Pipe
German artisan Werner Mummert boasts a vast portfolio encompassing everything from classic pipe shapes to architectural, avant-garde pieces. This sandblasted Lovat hews closer to the former end of that spectrum, and provides a fitting showcase of Mummert's unmistakable style with its eye-catching sandblast and fetching Ivorite-inlaid stem.
The bowl is a rather classic Billiard, exhibiting a subtle taper toward the rim and sporting a slightly muscular heel. The Lovat's signature protracted, cylindrical shank emerges with arrow-straight posture from the low-set transition, and is joined by a succinct saddle stem with a short, broad bit and tall shoulders. Said shoulders are punctuated by a band of Ivorite, which adds a lovely pop of lightness and smoothness that contrasts strikingly with the stummel's undulating, deeply craggy sandblast and dark chestnut stain.
