Apostate Cigars

Apostate’s founders Brandon Oveson and Kendrick Woolstenhulme, former members of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, were raised in Utah as devout members. Although they have departed from the faith, the brand has kept smoking spiritual since 2020, establishing the brand officially in 2021.

A-pos-tate is derived from the Greek word "apostasia," meaning defection, departure, rebellion, or revolt, and a term within Mormon culture, signifying the act of openly defying the teachings of the church — smoking cigars contradicts the strict prohibition of tobacco within Mormon beliefs, making the brand all the more rebellious.

Apostate cigars are blended using the finest aged tobaccos from around the world, crafted by hand under the supervision of tobacco maestro Jochy Blanco at Tabacalera Palma in the Dominican Republic.

Their line features eight different blends, from No. 1 The Initiatory, a perfect way to begin your journey into their cigars, to No. 7 Moroni's Trumpet, representing their darkest expression, and No. 8 The Endowment showcasing everything they love about premium tobacco in a complex presentation.
