Milder than the blue, sweeter than the blue. Tobacco only here, and it's awesome. Above and beyond all expectations.
It's a great smoke and if you like Virginia's you'll love this.

a different briar. I am glad I gave it a second try. The flavor is heavier bodied than HH Pure Virginia, but it is a satisfying and pleasant the second and subsequent times in the bowl. Definitely in my rotation with other Virginia's now. Read Less

I just got a good sample of this 5 year aged Virginia last week and it’s dang good stuff!!! Capstan Gold is basically a very good Virginia but the 5 years in the tin just sweetens the deal. Grab it while you can!!!

The Capstan yellow flake tastes much better. The ready rubbed version heats up quickly, you have to smoke very slowly. tongue bite. Better smoke the Flake

Tin Note : when freshly opened. It smells like pineapple, which I usually get for pure Virginia tobacco. After letting it sit in a mason jar for a couple of days, we get some citrusy notes, caramel and some brown sugar.

ry I would even say. I get some slight hay and earthy notes but definitely not as much as the citrusy notes. Smoking this blend reminds me of Ice lemon tea. No strong vinegar or ketchup notes detected.
Tongue bite : right out from the tin, yes.
After letting it sit in the jar, minimum tongue bite.
Mechanics : really straight forward. Just pack and puff. Stays lit relatively well even in Singapore humid weather, requires a few relights. No drying time needed.
Strength : medium to strong. Had a lot of time at work the whole day. Smoked four bowls of it and felt some nicotine sickness in the fourth bowl. Hence, repeatable but not an all day smoke.
Will I buy this again : if I happen to be travelling and spot this I would grab 2 tins of it. Chances of me getting this online and shipping it to me is minimal as right now it retails to 19.63 in smokingpipes. Read Less

sted with Fruit / Citrus flavoring, I couldn't discern it individually. Taste is medium and consistent, with complex notes of sweet hay, dry earth, tangy orange peel, stewed fruit, spicy, tart lemon grass, floral, very woody, a mildly sweet spiced bread background note, and a moderately peppery retro. Tried this for the first time and was pleased. Had a hard time keeping lit, but it can also be from my packing technique still developing. The flavor was pretty good, had a nice scent to it too.

Guess I am too used to normal tobac.
