Captain Black GOLD is by far my favorite pipe tobacco. Oh don't get me wrong, I enjoy many different blends, from the robust English and Lakeland blends, to the American boutique blends. But absolutely nothing puts me in a good mood like Captain Black GOLD. And I've been enjoying the briar since the late 1970s, so I think that's long enough to have pretty well figured out what I like. Wouldn't you think? Very nice sweetness. Smooth enough to enjoy but don’t get carried away it will get hot and bite if you’re not careful. All in all a good blend.

After enjoying the Original Captain Black, I tried the Gold brand and was happily surprised that it exceeded the taste of original. I now keep this tobacco in my weekly lineup, as an aromatic smoker.

I quite liked the flavor of Captain Black’s Gold. It was a great Cavendish! This is my favorite of the Captain’s offerings. I found it just right. The strength was fine; nothing to be ashamed of.
