er in the age of the Internet. Before our time men might have smoked five blends in their entire life that were stocked in their small town drug store. Tin note is grassy and clean. No latakia in this one so the tin note immediately strikes as much different than his other cakes. The familiar Virginia note is most noticeable. Pressing the tobacco's together allows all the oils and juices to saturate the cake and brings a deeper flavor that ribbon cut blends. When you smoke a cake there is something there, a deep body, that’s not found with most ribbon cut mixtures (there are exceptions). This is a stoved VA/ PER cake with that black cavendish softness and body that adds depth. Not detecting much from the orientals although my palate may not be as refined as many of you other gentleman. This blend is very sweet and the smoke is like sugar hitting your tongue. After several bowls of this spaced out over a few days my mouth was still overwhelmed with the amount of sweetness delivered as the smoke hit my tongue. I can only articulate what my taste buds are telling me and this may not be considered sweet for you. I know that stoving the Virginia’s can create a sweet, caramelized taste, as I’ve used it for blending. After several bowls I’ve deemed this too sweet for me. It’s a good blend but the sweetness overpowers almost every flavor that comes after it. If you’re an aromatic smoker or prefer very sweet tobacco’s this will be one you want to check out. at first then mellows a bit. The stoved Virginia’s combined with the unsweetened cavendish is a perfect seasoning just like a bit of sugar on top on barley cereal. I think I’ve found the complimentary blend to Plum Pudding. Read Less

The tin note was inviting with its vinegar, and sweet ketchup like tin note. However, the BC in the blend dominates the VA and perique to the point that I don’t like it. It’s very smooth and an easy smoke, but you gotta like BC.

The tin note is penetrating; some reported grassy, but I got a vinegar dominance, almost like a stoved ketchup-scented Virginia. The cakes are easy to crumble, darker red and black, and need a little drying out initially. It smokes well without any bite, and I taste refined Virginias and bitter, but delicate orientals. The perique is just right. I sought to try this because I grow tired of the same old Va/Per mixes. This is a welcomed change. I just wish Joe Lankford would create a more non-Latakia forward mixtures (even though I like those), as he certainly has a skill for it. Read Less

like it a lot! The cab gives it a smoothness and softens the sour from the perique. As far as Turkish orientals, I don't know. I don't know what to associate to the profile that represents Turkish orientals. Never had them before and don't get anything dramaticly different in the flavour to identify it from another va-per that doesn't have it included. Good sweet va-per! Thoroughly enjoyable...glad to be alive in this age of innovation. Any pipe smoking ailments I may suffer are a small price to pay for the sheer joy of smoking the masterpiece craft tobaccos such as this that are available nowadays.

d either. The normal bright Virginia notes and Perique spice and still there, but the addition of the Cavendish and Oriental transforms them into something lovely and unique. The smoke is very cool and smooth, and the typical VA citrus notes are punched up and deepened. The lemon and grapefruit taste almost juicy, and the is a hint of stone fruit, plum or peach maybe, underneath. The blend is very grounded as well: a nice mulchy earth tone runs underneath the brighter notes. Overall, a delightful and exceptionally well-balanced blend. The artistry of it is very evident, and the experience is unique. Read Less
