Product: Seattle Pipe Club Mississippi River Rum Barrel Aged 2oz
Upon opening I was smacked in the face with boozy
sweet rum notes and a sour - apple cider vinegar astringency. This is a crumble cake which has been thickly sliced. The sweet rum is ever present, but the
apple cider vinegar isn't. It's smooth, sweet, tangy, and smokey. It's quite assertive in flavor, but the body is kind of dank, which suggest a bit too much cavendish. This is for those who like a sweet, rum or bourbon infused, latakia supporting flavor. It's not one I want to smoke while doing chores, but rather to just sit and enjoy. *1/14/25: Jarred, this dried out and I'm perplexed. It shouldn't have dried. The sweetness and tartness are now very subdued, and all that's left is a rough, semi-tart spiciness. This would suggest an added sugar rather than natural sweetness, which also indicates a poor-quality leaf for this style mixture. Nicotine is 2 out of 5 - not too strong but satisfying....Read More

Tin note of sharply sweet vinegar, tangy raisins and sugar. Tobacco is a Krumble Kake of marbled reddish brown and dark brown with a little black and tan. Moisture content is good, some pipe smokers may want to dry it a bit. Kake breaks apart and rubs out with a little effort. Burns slow with a few extra relights. The strength is mild to medium and nic is mild. Flavoring is mild, with notes of Rum. Rum quite strong upon initial lighting, then drops to the background. There also seems to be a tangy fruitiness that is quite strong throughout the smoke that seems to be attributed the rum barrel aging. Taste is medium and mostly consistent, with complex notes of sweet tangy dark stewed fruit, sugar, mild smoky, sour zesty citrus, bready, musty wood, dry, savory, slight herbal, earthy rich, floral, slightly acidic, spicy, a spices and tart raisin background note, and a peppery retro. Virginia is leading with Latakia, Oriental/Turkish, Perique and Flavoring supporting. Room note is tolerable, and aftertaste is great....Read More

I come back to this blend every few weeks and I always wonder why I don't smoke it more often. Then I forget about it again. It's good, but I don't know that it's worthy of a name with so many syllables.

This has been a wonderful smoke over several tins I have a few cellared now and will order one every few orders or so to put away. The rum stands out but not too much so it doesnt hide the tobaccos, it does have some fairly spicy notes to it. I do enjoy it on over all a truly great blend

Strong rum aroma from the tin. It’s a smooth smoking tobacco, but literally becomes flavorless after a few centimeters into the bowl.

First off I love rum.I love this blend. I am confused from the reviews I expected a heavy, almost overwhelming tobacco. Instead this is a all day love affair.

I hate to be a contrarian but After trying and retrying this blend I have come to the impression that this blend is all to do about nothing. The individual components of this blend just didn’t shine and as an entire blend it tasted very muted with not much to rave about.to say that I was underwhelming Ed would be very accurate.I for one will not be purchasing another tin of this blend. I gave it a 3 star rating only to be kind to Joe....Read More

To start I want to say the Mississippi River Reserve is easily one of my all time favorite tobaccos at this point.
This Rum barrel version is sadly easily my least favorite tobacco. I hate to use words as strong as gross but nothing else fits. Just straight GROSS.
Tin note is ammonia and so strong opening it in the shop not only gives me a headache and a makes me want to gag but offended my work crew so bad they all left the room for the first time ever.
As for smoking this I get a weird mix of Ammonia, plum and cheap cheap plastic bottle bourbon with a top hit of liquid smoke.
Won't even be bothering to age what I have will either toss it or give it away.
Can't imagine a less enjoy able smoking experience....Read More

Thick, sweet smoke with a side of smokey/peppery aftertaste, would definitely recommend
