Never smoked the original but this is fine on its own merit. The taste reminds me of my grandmas cupboard where she kept the oatmeal raisin cookies and baking supplies. Anise, licorice, maple, raisins.

I keep it a little moist compare to most blends when packing otherwise some of the flavor is lost. This is a mild Burley based belnd. Easy smoking and enjoyable. I will keep some on hand.
