Sampled in a Missouri Pride.
This is a damn good Balkan. Immediately upon lighting it up you get a nice kick in the nuts from the Latakia telling you “hey I’m here and I run the show”.
Then the spicy Oriental and Perique go on to just beautifully pack the bowl with flavor giving you a very lush and luxurious Balkan experience.
I knew from the jump that this was going to be a five star blend and likely to see a lot of future action for me.
I actually enjoyed several bowls of this blend and can tell you that it paired nicely with a couple of red wines like The Prisoner and Meomi Pinot Noir.
It’s sweet and deep and has those nice nasal warming aromas that remind me of how wasabi kind of clears your sinuses in a flash of heat and then turn sweet on your taste buds. This blend literally made me salivate as I was smoking it.
Although I’m not saying there are anything of the same composition, this blend will easily replace White Horse as one of my go to Balkans as my supply of that blend runs out over time due to it’s no longer being produced.
If you’re a Balkan fan and you haven’t tried it I would recommend you give it a shot.

the absence of Virginia. I thought the oriental would fill in, but even the lovely sour tang they usually provide seems muted. I wish c&d would diversify their tobacco sourcing as well, just to provide more differentiation between blends. I picked up some engine 99 as well. Maybe that will be a little more up my alley...Read More

A very balanced and somewhat medium blend like Maltese Falcon has more flavor and a stronger Latakia flavor, even though it has lower amounts of said latakia.
While this blend is fine, I feel like it's just not as high quality as other lat blends out there for a similar price. I attribute it's lack of flavor to the quality of the Latakia itself as opposed to the amounts. Maybe I got a bad batch.
Additional note: It can be a bit soapy and bitter. Not entirely sure why....Read More

As a latakia lover i really enjoy this blend , its very smooth and the flavor is very well balanced , the orientals and the Perique along of course with the latakia make this flavor relaxing easy on the tongue and an all around great smoke , its a new favorite !!!
