I haven't smoked this separately, but I mean to (so to learn to identify Turkish tobacco flavor in blends). Because I just started piping mid-Jan. 2024. I did collect 4oz of this and I mixed all but a pinch of the 4oz (15%) of it to 16oz (60%) of Daughters and Ryan's: Windsail Silver, and 6.7oz (25%) of C&D's Latakia for making my own English blend. The three were very dry, perfect for accurate mixing weights, so I used OUZO Metaxa w/water, from a dropper bottle, for adding a bit of licorice flavor and moisture of course. Gently worked it all together, rehydrating as needed, in a Rubbermaid (2.5 gallon) tub w/red-top. And Voila! The mix is yummy. I have a number of blends, open currently, that I have daily. And I find this, my own mix, is the one I'm reaching for, or wanting to reach for, the most....Read More
Tasty Oriental

Got small portion in bulk to try. Had it straight, and also mixed with other tobaccos - all worked well and as expected: it rounds, widens, enriches and unfolds the features of tobaccos you mix it with.
The strengh to me is medium, not even on the way to strong: right in the middle.
Great spic
y-bready-sour taste of natural tobacco with Oriental specifics. Smokes cool and smooth.
Nothing really outstanding - just good reliable Turkish with no good or bad surprises.

This is sort of a simple blend but there’s so much flavor going on. It has a herbal/floral vibe going on and it’s sweet and savory. It took a few lights to get going but after that it was smooth sailing. No bite or tingle just a nice easy going smoke.
awesome!

Jar note of musty sweet, sour, and spices. The tobacco is a yellowish tan, brown and dark brown. It's a ready rub or tumbled out flake, moisture is good, rubs out easily. Burns slow with a few extra relights. The strength is medium and nic is mild. No flavoring detected. Taste is medium and consistent, with notes of spicy, nutty, sweet and sour, very dry, bitter wood, floral, spice, musty herbal hay, mild orange peel, tangy stewed fruit, a tart sour background note, and a peppery retro. Room note is tolerable, and aftertaste is great....Read More

This is some good smoke, I don't care WHO ya are! I smoke it straight or mixed with other Turkish tobaccos with a somewhat finer cut- RYO roller's dream tobacco. Reason I sometimes cut it with other turk/oriental is because of the coarseness of the cut for RYO. Definitely fine tobacco on it's own or mixed. Tobacco from the Smyrna/Izmir region is IMO, the best in the world! Just sayin......Read More
Exotic; Akin to Milk Oolong Tea and Hay

This is NOT a mediocre leaf, and it's an absolute pleasure to smoke, and one of only a few to be smoked neat. It possesses a silky/creamy mouthfeel, while the taste encompassed in that creaminess consists of a buttery verdant sweetness, with just a touch of woodiness... akin to Milk Oolong tea and hay. I expected more sourness, but received none. I detect the slightest bit of spice, but no sharpness, At times, it goes right to the edge but never gets sharp. The room note is light; verdant and slightly woody. Nicotine is a bit stronger than expected, but then I'm smoking this on an empty stomach, and so I'll place this at 2.5 out of 5....Read More

Great smooth cool smoke! First time smoking oriental by itself, because I’m not a fan of English mixtures, I was hesitant to try it. I’m glad I did and now I know it’s Latakia that turns me off in English mixtures, tastes and smells like a more intense version of the way a pencil smells.
I love this

Just "finished" my first bowl, out of a freshRopp vintage briar. I quote finished as I thought I'd smoked it all the way through, at 40 minutes for such a small chamber, but I found about a quarter of the bowl worth of scarely warmed tobacco at the bottom! I'm thinking I must've packed it a bit too tight, something I'll learn from in later bowls. What a first impression though! It's deliciously sweet and, some fruity I feel? Like figs but with a fruit that's not plums I'd say. A kind of deep, dark, rich flavour. I couldn't get it to bite even though I was puffing a bit hard and fast, my having to do so another sign I packed it too tight. The cut is surprisingly long ribbons, making it a bit hard to get into the smaller bowl, and I'll certainly be trying differently sized bowls. I retrohaled a lot more than normal with this one as it was such a gentle smoke, barely stinging my rather sensitive sinuses. Perhaps because of that it left a bit of an odd feeling on the back of throat and tongue. I certainly hope I'm not somehow allergic to this tobacco, as I love its scent and flavour so much. Overall, while I'll experiment with this one in blends, especially interested in how it'll compliment a burely, I'll also be smoking straight a good bit too. Highly recommend it....Read More

Product: Cornell & Diehl Izmir Turkish 2oz
I'll lead with the fact that I'm hugely surprised by Izmir and thoroughly enjoy it. Its a very flavorful yet manageable solo smoke in a loosely packed bowl. It has a nutty, almond sweetness and walnutty sharpness in parallel with a tea like woody,
umami, savory note. Though there's sweetness, its
rounded and balanced by a subtle sour tartness. A floralness in the first half of the bowl is replaced by cocoa and spice in the second half. Its cool and full. Its very consistent in the flavor profile but the number of different tasting notes provides an enjoyable complexity for me personally. Honestly it's surprising how many different notes present in each bowl from this single tobacco varietal. I find it more complex and enjoyable than my favorite Virginias.
One light with No bite! Keep in mind too, Oriental has the lowest amount of problematic chemicals so in relative terms its "healthy". My hat is off!
