Bought this to blend with, but I'm liking it more and more all by itself!

Not much of a tin note on this one and the ribbons are a bit finer than most. Dry enough to light and smokes easily with no xtra drying needed. As I expected, lacking in depth or character but a pleasant smoke. May try mixing it with some chocolate cavendish just to see if that helps. Overall, an easy one to smoke with no bite or other bad aspects, just not very exciting but then I’m a Burley lover trying to better understand Virginia. I bought a couple of ounces about a year ago along with a few other tobaccos to experiment with blending. I smoked each one that I bought individually to get an idea of how each variety tasted. I found the Red Virginia to be a bit harsh at first, but it has definitely mellowed with age. Now, after a year in a jar it is a pleasantly sweet and easy smoke. Solid red ribbon you have had a hundred times in C&D blends. That said it smokes great on its own its a great mild mindless smoke.

Yes I smoke it straight. And yes it’s great for blending. I make my own VaPers and this stuff is the key.

This stuff is strong. In the spectrum of Virginias, it's in the fuller end of the scale. Bready at first, then the flavors develop into earthy, rich, full, and deep. Will be great added to my milder aromatics, and to any blend that i find too light. Highly recommended!

Jar note of tartly sweet, sugar and spices. Tobacco is mostly a medium brown with a little darker brown mixed in. The short ribbons are a little moist, drying may be preferred. Burns moderate with few relights. The strength is medium and nic is mild to medium. No flavoring detected. Taste is medium to full and consistent, with notes of wood, spices, bread, mildly sweet, mildly tangy, citrus, earth, fermented vegetation, mildly acidic, a dried hay background note, and a peppery retro. As with the bright VA, I tried this to see it's blend worthiness and found that it is week worth it on its own. Just nice red Virginia's with that mouldering leaf litter taste. Versus hay and grass of the bright VA. Very nice indeed
