For McConnell's Ripe Honeydew pipe tobacco, a touch of honey is added to a straight Virginia blend, enhancing the tobaccos' natural sweetness. It's then pressed, cut, and rubbed out into a broken-flake cut.

Tin note of lemon grass and hay/vegetation. Tobacco is a ribbon cut/small rough cut of orangish tan and light brown. Moisture content is good, some pipe smokers will want to dry it a bit. Burns moderately fast with few relights. The strength is mild to medium and nic is mild. No flavoring detected. Taste is medium and very consistent, with notes of bready, zesty, fermented vinegary sour, tart citrus, lemon grass, spice, floral, wood, dry, earth, hay, vegetation, acidic, orange peel/bitters, mild tangy stewed fruit, a semi-sweet background note, and a peppery retro. Just makes it to first base

For my first bowls, I packed this stuff lightly. (And it's more of a ribbon/shag rather than broken flake.) It produced swirling clouds of smoke, but it would go out fairly quickly. I then tried packing it a bit more tightly, but it still required a number of relights. A bit annoying. With a light packing, the subtlely sweet honey flavor comes through a bit better, while with a tighter packing, it develops a somewhat acrid taste. McConnell's blends either hit a home run with me (Oriental and London Cut, for instance), or they just make it to first base (Mature Green Label)....Read More

The flavor of honey is lightly added to Virginia's sweet taste. It is sweet taste delicate and gentle to. There are 0 excessive taste and aroma. A simple, therefore wonderful blend. So but, a scent is somewhat unsatisfactory.
