, making sure it doesn't just fall to the bottom. The cut itself also contributes to that end, and is rather small but somehow just right. Cool smoking, supremely pungent and aromatic, and full bodied. Pound for pound the most aromatic Latakia I've smoked. I love blending with this stuff, and indeed have crafted several blends with it that I thoroughly enjoy. A little too potent to smoke regularly solo, but worth sampling to fully understand what it brings to the table. There's not much else to say here. High quality tobacco. Read Less

world, and so it's prudent to cellar at least a pound to have on hand. The mouthfeel is silky/creamy and dense with absolutely no PH issues. It smokes very cool. The flavor is as what we all know it to be: campfire. It's a rich and robust flavor of cedar, some other herbal and woody notes, and charcoal/creosote. The room note is pungent; a bit like a horse stable with a mixture of manure, fermented hay, wood and horse sweat. Very little nicotine. I didn't feel anything after one bowl, so I'd place the nicotine level at 1 out of 5, or perhaps even less. Read Less

is a 50/50 Latakia/Cigar Leaf blend which is my go-to blend when I am tired of pre-blends or want a change of pace from English. (I never allow Aromatics in my bowls, thank you.)

Whole latakia leaf came from Lebonan last 2 years, as unprocessed raw cutted leaf from plantation. Due to drought Latakia leaf did not grown for several years in Cyprus, we only managed to produce fine scrap and large scrap tobaccos. Cyprus, Syria and Lebonan has same climate, so its actually same. But of course ones which came out rom Lebonan is more known. Actually process methods matters.
This year in ovens we have also Cyprus local Latakia, after good rainy winter. They all reserved for customer in USA.
Cornell & Diehlh had both Cyprian and syrian. Syria`s tobacco production is damaged and not groving
If next winter rains much again, next year we will have 40k tons of leaf tobacco.

Latakia is found in almost every tobacco blend for good reason. It is simply delicious to smoke when mixed with Virginia’s. Latakia comes from the Middle East and is cured over a fire, giving it it’s Smokey deliciousness.

75 loads up a Missouri Meerschaum General (huge bowl) and proceeds to smoke this stuff straight. I was gobsmacked. I thought he was crazy. I knew he liked Latakia blends, but my Gawd! I have smoked Lat-blends for 25 years and never thought to do such a thing. Then I tried it myself and I should have known he'd not steer me wrong. This was a great opportunity to see just what Latakia has to offer for blending. Without any other tobacco present, there is nothing there to question. If you taste something or experience something, it has got to be from the Latakia. I often wonder when smoking blends if something I'm tasting is the Latakia or from other orientals, so this was a great help to my learning palate. On it's own it is kind of one-dimensional, but man, what a dimension! This is obviously the Cyprian variety of Latakia, it's much mellower and smooth without aging than the Syrian. I've had both types and I know blends of old required the Syrian and all, but I think I actually prefer the Cypress variety more. Get some and see what Latakia truly is and does for a smoke. Here's a free recipe to try: 50% C&D Latakia/40% C&D Virginia Flake/10% C&D Izmir for a great full strength traditional English blend. If you like things more complex, try swapping C&D Bayou Morning in place of the Virginia Flake! You can thank me later. Read Less

t that is something that couple of minutes will solve. Color is from deep black to caramel, smokey above pungent on the bag. Tends to become extremely dominant so it is very prudent to add very little to your mixes.
Robust and fragrant during smoke, gives lots of body and roundness.
