It is great by its self without mixing
A Smoky Delight
June 20, 2024
Product: Cornell & Diehl Latakia 2oz
I bought this for blending but soon realized it was amazing on its own. It’s dark, it’s heavy, it’s mouth coatingly oily and it’s smokey. It’s damn near perfect for these cold San Francisco summer nights. Buy it in bulk for an incredible bang for your buck.
Used this to mix my own English blend.

I haven't smoked this separately, but I mean to (so to learn to identify Latakia's flavor). Because I just started piping mid-Jan. 2024. I did collect 8oz of this and I mixed 6.7oz (25%) of it to 16oz (60%) of Daughters and Ryan's: Windsail Silver, and 4oz (15%) of C&D's Izmir Turkish for making my own English blend. The three were very dry, perfect for accurate mixing weights, so I used OUZO Metaxa w/water, from a dropper bottle, for adding a bit of licorice flavor and moisture of course. Gently worked it all together in a Rubbermaid (2.5 gallon) tub w/red-top. And Voila! The mix is yummy. I have a number of blends out currently, that I rotate through daily, and I find my own mix is the one I'm reaching for, or wanting to reach for the most. I think, other than for mixing, I will gather up more of this to do, as others have said; bump up the Lat-level of other blends. So 4.5 Stars is for in keeping with the current rating you all gave this; given I have mixed mine....Read More

I never had a Syrian Latakia, and only had 3 -4 any other manufacturers Latakia. This one is the best , still.
Diluted version of the Syrian Latakia

Product: Cornell & Diehl Latakia Bulk
This is a poor version of the genuine Syrian leaf, which we all know is no longer available. I added up to 50% to a Turkish combo of three types but I was unable to get that forceful feature. I am now smoking the remaining supply on its own and doubt if I will order it again

Someone in quality control did not do thier job . The bag note and the taste is flat and weak . I smoked three bowls in different pipes and it was the same . The good people at Smoking Pipes gave me a refund . You can't beat thier service . My number 1 pipe tobacco supplier .

Tried it straight, love it. Will blend it with everything.
Why just blend it? Smoke it as well!

Latakia, which I buy...not for blending alone. This is as some of my pipe friends on another platform and I agree, is an utterly delicious tobacco to enjoy alone. In fact, in one edition of a Sherlock Holmes book, the great detective is said to have kept his Latakia in the toe of a Persian slipper. I suggest trying Latakia, which has elements of both toast and dark rum in both nose and taste, in a Prince shaped pipe. I have a well-seasoned GBD Prince and a Brigham Rod and Reel 236 (Algonquin style) that I generally use with Latakia...Read More
good to go.

5 yr old jar note of smoky and mild sour sweet. Tobacco cut is ribbon, mostly dark brown with a bit of black. Moisture level is on the dry side, no prep needed. Burns slow with few relights. The strength is mild to medium and nic is mild. No flavoring detected. Taste is medium and very consistent, with notes of smoky, wood, leather, incense, floral, mildly spicy, earth, mildly musty, acidic, buttery, slightly creamy, a dry herbal background note, and a peppery retro. Room note is tolerable, and aftertaste is great....Read More
