This is C&D's high grade Burley from the Kentucky fields. Naturally smooth, cool smoking and featuring a pleasant room note, White Burley can make for a great smoke on its own as well as act as a fine base for your own mixture experimentation.
I like Burley. I smoke a good bit of the C&D Burley Ribbon Cut each month. I have had White Burley in blends, but can't remember how long it's been since I've had it straight. It is a soft mild Burley, with a hint of nuttiness. It's the kinder, gentl... Read Moreer Burley. It's a pleasant smoke and would pair well with Bright Virginia, which I will try later today. For me, I prefer a heartier Burley to smoke straight but this is fine tobacco for blending. This has all the joy of Burley, just toned down a wee bit. Nothing wrong with that. Nice pleasant smoke. White Burley has a decidedly grassy and hay like flavor and lacks the richness of darker types. Whereas the green-stemmed (darker) varieties have a more pronounced nuttiness and dark cocoa flavor, you’ll find that nuttiness in the White, albeit a mi... Read Moreld nuttiness, like fresh pecans vs toasted walnuts. Additionally, White lacks the burnt cocoa and bitter-sweet molasses. I actually prefer this as an everyday burley smoked by itself and it mixes wonderfully with Latakia and brighter Virginia’s to yield a fresher and brighter smoke. Just as we get other dimensions in Virginia; yellow, mahogany (air-cured) and red… you also get variation of richness with burley – white to dark. The body is still there and contributes a full and silky mouthfeel, though the strength, flavor and nicotine are between mild and medium. Read Less
This is a tamer burley, but still deep and complex. Not nearly as good as Sutliff J4 Burley, but a close third runner-up. If your blends call for a bright and distinguished burley but not a show stealer, this is the one you want. More bread and brand... Read Morey than chocolate and cocoa. Bag note resonated with a hay-like note similar to freshly baled hay. This is a good thing! I’d waited for a bit until it became available again...glad I did. Nice mellow flavor, easy to smoke. It was ready to smoke fresh from the mailbox. White Burley is actually the softest feeling tobacco I've ever touched. I know that doesn't matter much but I'm not kidding, it is almost silky. I enjoyed this one.
