Engine #611
Smoking Pipes rated 4.3

Engine #611 is one of the highest rated aromatic ribbons in the lineup and is comprised of black Cavendish, Virginia and Burleigh. Appearance wise it’s very dry for an aromatic and is a mixture of tan brown and black
ribbons.

It was sampled in a misery, pride.

I was surprised by this aromatic mainly because I have gotten gunshy about any aromatic with vanilla as of latet , but this vanilla is very subtle - much more subtle than any of the previous aromatics that I sampled. I actually kind of like it. It’s soft. It’s just the right amount of sweet and flavor in balance.

I will place it somewhere between a very sweet latte and cake frosting - so it is not cloying, but it is for a sweet tooth.

The room note at time to time had a weird cherry element that came and went that I never tasted in the blend, but I definitely could pick it up on the smell. Not sure where that’s coming from.

Again I thought it was very nice blend. it’s soft, but it’s not like candy floss soft.

There’s no cinnamon in here, but the Virginia pops through at times and gives a red heart candy like touch to the vanilla that I actually liked a lot.

Have to respect the straightforwardness of this blend. This is definitely on the upper end of aromatics for me. It’s not a blend that I’m going to cellar In any large amount, but I wouldn’t mind having some on hand to have time to time when I need a break from Latakias and English blends .

It would probably be especially nice to have around the holidays when attending larger family functions, and gatherings.

My rating :3

This is the 76th blend of 101 that I am reviewing for this project.

I purchased this after watching the mystery tobacco review. The vanilla flavor is really subtle, so much so that it didn't really show up after the first quarter of the bowl. Not offensive, just bland.

This is a good aromatic with flavor for a burley lover. Not bad at all

Smooth, mellow and enjoyable smoke. The natural tobacco comes through well and the slight hint of vanilla adds a nice soft aroma and slight sweetness. An excellent tobacco.

Besides liking the N&W steam engine, I liked this a lot. Burnt & tasted well. I will purchase again.
