About This Pipe Tobacco

Beginning with healthy portions of white and dark Burley blended with Red and Bright Virginia leaf, C&D's Redburn then incorporates a touch of spicy Dark-Fired Kentucky, topping it with the flavors of dark rum and molasses and pressing into an old fashioned crumble cake.

I absolutely love this blend. I enjoy all the hardened complexity of notes and I've never been left wanting more in the sense of fulfilment. This blend will itch the scratch of Burley lovers in my personal opinion and cannot be passed over

I acquired some Redburn in a trade and REALLY like it. I have been looking for a Burley forward blend and just wasn't finding one that suited me until Redburn. I'm actually going to place an order soon as I finish this review.

As someone who loves Burley and Rum, I don’t know why I slept on this blend for so long. The tin note right away exudes the rum topping. Not subtle at all. Everything is in concert so well. The dark fired Kentucky is present but not overpowering. Overall it’s reminiscent of warm spices. It’s very tightly compressed and a bit sticky, so I’ve found cutting a thin flake and rubbing out works best. I’m planning to grab a few tins to age....Read More
Granger Deluxe

Redburn is a blend that I've been coming to love so very much as of late! It's very similar to Haunted Bookshop and Pegasus in many ways, with the main focus of the flavor being the relatively equal portions of white and dark Burleys in the mix backed up by just a smidgen of red and bright Virginias, and it has roughly the same nicotine strength as Haunted Bookshop; but with Redburn you get all these really interesting little extra complexities and nuances if you take the time to sip it slowly and suss them out.

In spite of the dark rum and blackstrap molasses toppings it's not an aromatic by any means, it's still a fairly stout Burley blend in both flavor and aroma, but the little touch of sweetness they impart really tames down the bitter acridness that C&D's Burleys tend to have and makes for a smoke that's neither bitter nor sweet but fairly neutral on the palate. If you really search for it you can taste a hint of rum or Brer Rabbit molasses here and there, and every now and then a little barbeque smokey Dark Fired Kentucky flavor wafts in as well, but the white and dark Burleys really are the star of the show.

It's a great blend for absentminded puffing since on the surface it's basically a souped up Granger for those who like a bit more Vitamin N, but if you take your time and sip it slow there's a great deal of subtle complexities and flavor interplays to discover. I can safely say that Redburn is easily the most complex Burley blend I've ever had, and just a really dang cool and satisfying smoke!
