You can taste a very clear aroma of nuts.There are also earthy undertones and hints of leather, which together with smoky roasted notes create an interesting combination of taste impressions. Don't know how people don't like this blend, unless you just don't like burley. Really is one of the best burley blends on the market, a tie in my opinion to Haunted Bookshop, but a bit heavier on the nicotine. C&D absolutley killing it with their blends.

If you get an ashy smoke, slow it down. When smoking Old Joe Krantz properly, it tastes like a sweet and spicy chocolate peanut.

Maybe I'm an outlier, I don't know, but if your a fan of burley, do not sleep on OJK. Absolutley killer blend 5/5 from me!...Read More

Nothing like a big bowl of OJK Original after a long day at work. It just hits the spot as a strong, nighttime smoke with the power and the spice. This is an easy blend to review - do you like C&D’s dark burley and do you like perique? If yes and yes, then you’ll love this. Otherwise stick to the Golden Sliced! Does get harsh and bitey if you push it.

Cornell & Diehl Old Joe Krantz is a fantastic American Burley blend—bold, earthy, spicy, and deeply satisfying.

The Burley provides the heart of the experience with plenty of nuttiness, earth, cocoa, and that dry, slightly rugged character I enjoy in a traditional American mixture. The Virginia adds a touch of natural sweetness, while the Perique brings pepper, dark fruit, and enough spice to keep the blend lively throughout the bowl.

What I appreciate most is that Old Joe Krantz does not try to be delicate. It has real presence. The flavors are robust and tobacco-forward, but they remain balanced rather than chaotic. Smoked slowly, the nuttiness deepens, the spice becomes more integrated, and the blend develops a rich, almost old-fashioned character that feels wonderfully honest.
