About This Pipe Tobacco

A special formulation of six Virginias plus Golden and Dark Virginias with air-cured leaf and a pinch of Louisiana Perique. Easy burning is ensured by the carefully selected cut. The Perique balances the Virginias with a hint of spice for the discerning palate.

Tin note of sugared raisins, salty and mild musty vegetation. Tobacco is a ready rub of brown, tan and dark brown. Moisture content is great. Burns moderately with few relights. The strength is medium and nic is mild to medium. No flavoring detected, though one is listed. Taste is medium and mostly consistent, with notes of sour plums, bread, splices, floral, wood, raisin, lemon grassy, herbal hay, earthy, bitter orange peel, zesty tangy citrus, mildly peaty vegetation, mildly spicy, savory, a tart dark fruit background note, and a very peppery retro. Dorchester is great right out of the tin when fresh but it really gets good with some age. I taste dried fruit, maybe plums or raisins, along with the bakery taste from the virginias. This is one of my all time favorites.

This is one of the better things I have tried over the years. Of course I had to obtain it elsewhere as I've never even gotten a notification despite years of waiting. The tobacco has a malty tin note and flavor that really reminds me of Russ Oulette's R.O. series acadian gold. Of course the esoterica has a lot more different types of leaf blended in this blend but it does have a striking resemblance that make me think I have an idea as to how Germain might ferment their va's. I don't think the blend is flavored but I pick up a light hint of licorice or anise. If you can get any it's worth a try....Read More

It's a sin that this, and all the other Esoterica blends are so hard to come by. I just burned through my last tin of this one, so it's back to Golden Slices. I'll miss this smoke though. Great VaPer, with the emphasis on the VA. If you can find it, try it. It's nice.
