Tart with a Mild Smokiness
August 31, 2020

Product: Mac Baren HH Vintage Syrian 16oz
This is a delicately nuanced mixture. The Syrian is VERY tart, with a mild herbal and floral nuance. Unlike Cyprian, this doesn't scream smoky cedar essence, creosote and campfire. It's also far less sweeter than Cyprian. Also contrary to Cyprian Latakia, Syrian is quite high in nicotine. This is good, but not one that I'll smoke daily. Still have approximately a pound left and it should last me years. Nicotine is 3 out of 5....Read More

A personal favorite

My only regret with this tobacco was waiting so long to try it. The tobaccos used complement each other perfectly. One of the very few latakia blends I can enjoy in the summer. The tin aroma is really nice. The Syrian latakia is very tasty with a winelike smoky flavor that has just a hint of herbal and floral incense like note. I like to let it dry out before smoking to really get the best flavor. I have quite a few pounds of this in my cellar for future enjoyment. My favorite Balkan style blend...Read More

I absolutely love the delicate and complex flavour of the supremely aged Syrian Latakias for 1974 & 1983's bumper crops...these have a different flavour than in years where there weren't bumper crops, because they had to improvise to cure the leaf, to the point of hanging leaf from the rafters of their homes....If it is too subtle for people, fine, but they miss out on so much. In the aged subtlety of the vintage Latakia, there are so many flavours and so much nuance, that you can find new things, even after smoking it for years. i am more than glad to buy all of this that those who are disappointed are going to leave on the shelf....Read More
