About This Pipe Tobacco

Samuel Gawith was the son-in-law of Thomas Harrison, a snuff manufacturer who moved his trade and equipment to Kendal, Cumbria, England from Scotland in 1792. Gawith inherited this equipment from Harrison, and the company has been crafting premium tobacco since, with one of Samuel's two sons continuing the brand while the other joined with Henry Hoggarth to establish Gawith, Hoggarth & Co. Though offering separate blends, both brands remain forever linked and still share the same manufacturing facility in England's Lake District, utilizing processes and techniques that date to the brands' 1792 roots. In many of their mixtures, Samuel Gawith maintains the standards enforced by the United Kingdom's strict purity laws of the 19th and 20th centuries — such laws dictating how much and what type of flavorings could be added to pipe tobacco and ensuring that sub-quality leaf wasn't hidden under the veil of exorbitant toppings.

Samuel Gawith's Kendal Cream Flake is a blend of Burley and Virginias, offering a mellow and creamy smoke. Like many Lakeland mixtures, it's topped with a unique mélange of essences for a distinct and pleasant aroma.

Nice blend like the lakeland. I smoke it right out of the tin. Some commented they let it dry some. In my opinion any drying starts the diminish of flavor. Had no problem smoking it right out of the tin. With flakes in my opinion, you get the most flavor with the fold & stuff method.
Not bad

Flakes when broken out are very damp. Needs some drying. The topping here is very subtle and that’s a good thing because I hate the taste of aromatics. Very smooth creamy smoke. Good stuff.

This is a different smoke at least for me. The flavor really hits on the retro and has a lot to pick out. For me it’s like a buttery flower with orange zest and maybe a dash of absinthe.
Very nice, without aging!

No Lakeland whining from me. No old lady scents or flavors. No detergent flavors to be found. Creamy, floral and citrus, over the natural sweetness of the Virginias. No sugary taste. While I’m a hair lower than the average on rating, this is a huge aro rating for me, and to be fair, maybe that’s because the aro component is so light they have it categorized as a Virginia blend here. A favorite, and I’ll order again....Read More

This is the best VaBur I’ve tried so far. Nothing to complain about except it’s kinda hard to keep it lit but I do not mind that at all as long as it tastes this good and the tobacco is of high quality. Let it dry out a bit, for at least 20 mins, prior to packing.
