About This Pipe
Danish artisan Mike Sebastian Bay got his start in the pipe making industry when, on his hunt to find someone to repair his father's old pipes, he met Tom Eltang. Bay went on to apprentice for several years under the direction of the legendary pipe maker and has since become a well-respected figure in the industry himself. His style thoroughly embodies the Danish aesthetic, with influence from Eltang intermingled with his own unique approach. Bay's style is on grand display here with this rusticated Apple, which features a lovely stretch of bamboo along the shank. The bamboo's organic texture makes an excellent complement to the stummel, which showcases Bay's unique rustication technique. Only the rim remains smooth, adding a subtle dose of contrast, while a sleek saddle stem of vulcanite tops off the composition.
