Mastro Geppetto Liscia Billiard (3) Tobacco Pipe

Ser Jacopo's story began in 1982 when Giancarlo Guidi and Bruto Sordini left Mastro de Paja to start their own firm. In true Italian style, the company's pipes offer finely crafted variations on traditional British and French shapes. With their Mastro Geppetto pipes (named for the man who carved Pinocchio), Ser Jacopo provides the same curious approach, neoclassical shapes, and variant finishes of its other pipes at a lower price point.

This Mastro Geppetto Billiard is a conservative rendition of the classic shape with a barely-there taper to the walls of the bowl and a light, natural-looking stain on the stummel that allows the grain to breathe easily. The flame grain is especially remarkable on the left flank of the bowl, reaching up completely unimpeded from the patch of birdseye on the heel to the rim. The round shank shares the lovely grain pattern and connects without accent to a semi-transparent stem of acrylic, its amber coloring offering a great finishing touch to this piece.
