About This Pipe
American artisan Jerry Crawford entered the world of pipes in 1978 as a collector, and it wouldn't be until three decades later that he would try his hand at carving his own. Now, he's an accomplished carver known for his reserved, highly technical style. His pipes often showcase English or Danish shaping cues, and they are finely crafted to offer a fuss-free smoke every time. This bent Bulldog is one such example of the artisan's refined style.
The bowl's walls ascend from a lifted heel, stopping at the crisply chamfered, concave rim. Behind the bowl, a cheeked transition introduces a robust, flaring shank, which is joined by a tapered horn stem with a broad bit and a stylish expansion disc. While at first glance, this pipe appears to have a push-style mount, the stem actually possesses a standard tenon — a deceptive detail that adds further intrigue to the pipe's form. A warm, smooth finish dresses the stummel, highlighting trailing tendrils of flame grain and swirling pools of birdseye throughout the briar.
