When you've been making pipes for over 50 years like Tim West has, you tend to experiment now and then; such is the case with this unique Freehand. The transition is cinched just so to maintain a separate character from the bowl, which appears plugged into the end of said shank thanks to the expansion immediately following the transition. The stem, too, stands out from the shank — though not unattractively — with swirled, shimmering shades of gray that create a striking contrast against the stummel's warm chestnut hue.
