About This Pipe
Giacomo Penzo, originally from Italy and now based in Ireland, seamlessly blends diverse influences from Danish, Italian, and Anglo-French pipe making in his work. With a background in industrial engineering, he serves as Peterson's in-house pipe specialist while also crafting his own pipes. His impressive portfolio showcases a range of styles, from timeless, classic pieces to bold, whimsical designs. This Acorn showcases G. Penzo's skill in rendering classic silhouettes, distinguished by a unique flair that is unmistakably his own.
This Acorn features a timeless design characterized by clean, softened lines and gentle, supple curves. The bowl closely resembles its namesake nut, with a high-set waistline and a rounded rim. It replaces the typical angular heel with a more curvaceous base, while the low-set transition emphasizes the bowl's width and leads into a dramatically flared, cylindrical shank. Topping off the composition is a slender saddle stem, whose base is accented with horn. The stummel is finished in a chestnut stain that highlights tendrils of flame grain around the bowl.
