About This Pipe
Founded in 1983 by William "Bill" Ashton-Taylor, who worked as a Dunhill apprentice, the Ashton workshop is lauded for its incredibly high standards of quality and mastery of classic English design principles. Jimmy Craig currently heads the company, having taken up the mantle after Bill's passing in 2009. Since then, he has sustained the Ashton legacy by steadfastly following the founder's philosophy of equally prioritizing all parts of the pipe, and utilizing only the best materials and most pristine finishing.
This Pot from Ashton is a sleek, architectural rendition of the classic shape. The stout bowl's cylindrical walls rise from the crisp, angular heel to the light, smooth-finished rim, which is bedecked with swirling birdseye. A short, cylindrical shank emerges from the right-angled transition to join a sleekly tapered stem, their union accentuated by a lovely band of silver. Save for the smooth rim, the stummel wears the crisp sandblast of Ashton's Pebble Grain series, offering plenty of tactile detail and imbuing the briar with a warm, rich color palette.
