About This Pipe
Federico Becker represents the third generation of his family turning pipes, following in the footsteps of grandfather, Fritz, and father, Paolo, who founded the Becker workshop together in 1974. The self-titled brand Federico carries on today is known for organic renditions of classic shapes, most commonly featuring sharp, angular heels.
This Billiard is no exception, fronted by a bowl of straight walls that nearly resembles a Dublin in its lightly conical orientation — though it lacks a flare — and cants forward in a way that draws the heel downward from the shank. The heel meets the fore at a sharp, lightly obtuse angle, the fore then reaching up to a subtly inflated rim. The shank is somewhat slender out back and matches the bowl in its very light stain and smooth finish, reaching back shortly to meet a lengthy, tapered vulcanite stem. It's a featherlight piece at just under a single ounce across a substantial 5.32-inch length, putting Becker's flair for precise, well-made pipes on a grand display.
