About This Pipe

Founded in 1974, the Becker workshop is a family-owned operation in Italy currently manned by third-generation artisan Federico Becker. Having learned from his father and grandfather before him, Federico has cultivated a unique style marked by crisp shaping and rakish, angular silhouettes: qualities that are readily evident in this Dublin. Becker's current grading system is based on playing cards; stamped with two Clubs, this Dublin is a rather impressive offering.

When looking at this Dublin, the eye is immediately drawn to the crisp, angular heel: a common motif across much of Becker's portfolio, and a cornerstone of his distinctive, rakish style. From said heel, the walls of the bowl rise with a sleek, subtle flare, stopping at the subtly inflated rim. Out back, the shank-and-stem arrangement is just as rakish as the bowl, and angles downward to add a slight dose of dynamism to the composition. The stem is fashioned from cumberland, whose deep burgundy hue makes a handsome complement to the stummel's dark, craggy sandblast. Said sandblast offers a wealth of stimulating texture for the hand to appreciate, and imbues the pipe with an air of ruggedness. Unmistakably Becker in shaping, and sporting a striking yet cohesive combination of finishes, this offering is sure to make a handsome addition to any pipe collection.
