About This Pipe
While he was born in Belgium, Bruno Nuttens has resided in France for nearly 20 years. He started his pipe-making career by restoring estate pipes while crafting some of his own in his spare time, and with the assistance and advice of pipe maker Pierre Morel, Nuttens was later able to accrue the skills and equipment to propel his career. Nuttens' portfolio features both traditionally-inclined pieces and more expressive designs, the latter represented by this Poker offering. As part of Nuttens' Handmade series, this piece represents the finest work within the French artisan's portfolio, having been carved and finished completely by hand. Shape-wise, this piece boasts a tall, cylindrical bowl that's paired with a trim, demurely curved shank-and-stem arrangement. Said bowl stands atop a flat, sure-sitting heel and grows trim walls that flare upward to a wide, gently chamfered rim. It's dressed in a rich, smooth finish that highlights stunning grain throughout the stummel.
