About This Pipe
Caminetto, or "the pipe with the mustache" (la Pipa del Baffo in Italian), was founded in 1969 by two former Castello artisans: Guiseppe Ascorti and Luigi Radice. The pair's uniquely designed pipes were fundamental to the inception of the distinct Italian neoclassical style. The brand is now run by Guiseppe's grandson, Tommaso. This bent Apple from Caminetto is a muscular, full-bodied iteration of the traditional shape. Plump and round, the bowl is palm-filling with a capacious chamber, and a long, plump heel extends from beneath the bowl to the underside of the engorged transition. Beginning with said transition, the shank turns up swiftly into the junction, tapering with haste as it does so. The stem continues this taper into a smartly bent bit. An extremely dark, smooth finish to the stummel offers an air of mysterious allure.
