About This Pipe
Claudio Cavicchi has been crafting pipes for over 50 years, and his decades of experience are evident in every piece he fashions. This bent Dublin is an astounding example of Cavicchi's shaping skills and ability to maximize the grain potential of a given block of briar. Tall and muscular, the bowl here sits at the fore of an upturned shank and a steeply curved saddle stem of jet-black acrylic. The bowl's dramatic height and wide frame draw most of the visual weight within the composition, overshadowing the pinched transition and comparatively slender shank-and-stem arrangement. One of Cavicchi's stunning auburn sandblasts dresses the stummel, revealing tight, rippling growth rings throughout and specks of distinct bridseye along the rim.
