About This Pipe
A wide variety of bent Dublin iterations populate Claudio Cavicchi's prolific portfolio. The Italian carver's ability to present so many different iterations on the same shape is impressive and speaks to the commitment and passion he brings to the craft. This particular example is a considerably protracted variation: The shank and stem initiate a languid bend that cants the bowl dramatically forward, resulting in a design that's hearty in hand but quite sleek and dynamic in profile. As is the case with every pipe he carves, Cavicchi's shaping has brought out the best this briar block has to offer, as sandblasted growth rings stack densely up the bowl before blooming into natural plateau across the rim.
