About This Pipe
Italian artisan Claudio Cavicchi boasts over 50 years of pipe-making experience and possesses an uncanny talent for bringing out the very best from a block of briar. His portfolio is full of evocative interpretations of classic shapes, and he is known by many artisans to have some of the best grain in the world, with even his non-graded pipes rivaling the top-tier pieces of other workshops.
When looking at the seamless confluence of grain and shaping on this Tomato, it's easy to understand why it earned Cavicchi's exceptional five-C grade. Though not the squattest, the bowl of this Tomato is certainly broad, boasting thick, well-insulated walls that offer plenty of surface area around the inflated rim to showcase some particularly lovely birdseye. Densely packed flame grain adorns the walls of the bowl, and trails across the flanks of shank, which flares outward before terminating in a raised accent band of naturally colorful olivewood. A gently bent saddle stem tops off the composition, poised for a comfortable smoke.
