About This Pipe
A classic straight Dublin, the "05" from Dunhill is here presented with a Group 4 sized tobacco chamber and Nosewarmer length. It's a strikingly compact piece at just over three and a half inches long, though the Dublin bowl is full-sized. In the famous Shell Briar finish, the color palette is consistent. Almost weightless, this piece is certainly a convenient smoker, easy to slip into a pocket but with the capacity to satisfy any smoking conditions.
The Shell Briar's addition to the Dunhill catalog was a pivotal moment in pipe-smoking history. Before 1917, pipes with sandblasted finishes had never been made, and Alfred Dunhill's innovative mind created arguably the most popular finish for pipes today when he unveiled the Shell Briar. With its dark, reserved color palette and delightful texture, it's no surprise that it's still wildly popular over a century later.
