About This Pipe
From what started as a simple hobby of making duck calls from bamboo, Jason Mounton gained experience in woodworking that would eventually help shape his pipe-making career. Based in Gueydan, Louisiana, Jason Mouton's shaping style is driven by his keen eye for detail and a passion for studying various artisan works. His pipes reflect a strong American design influence with their compact and muscular builds.
While this Billiard leans more slender and carries a subtle Anglo-French character, it still displays several hallmarks of American pipe making. Most notably, the bowl serves as the focal point of the design, featuring bold, plump flanks and a stoic, upright posture. There is a touch of extra substance to the bowl compared to traditional interpretations, emphasized by deep cheeking at the transition. A slender shank keeps the pipe light in hand and streamlines the rear of the silhouette. The transition is accented with fossilized walrus ivory, whose pale tone provides an elegant contrast to the overall design.
