Sandblasted Bent Egg with Brass Tobacco Pipe

Though Jared Coles' shaping style draws from design schools across the world, his work is primarily rooted in the American Renaissance and Danish classical movements of pipe making, with this bent Egg being a good example of the former. A thickly-built piece, this pipe boasts ample substance throughout its silhouette, packing a great deal of heft into a delightfully compact package, coming in at less than five inches long. The transition is fairly tight, though there's enough room to drape a digit if desired, and it gives way to a lifting, cylindrical shank that flares extremely subtly as it reaches out to meet the stem. The junction between the shank and stem is marked by a broad, rounded ring of polished brass, drawing the eye to the aft side and the stem base's own easy flare toward a sleek saddle bit while offering rich, eye-catching contrast against the stem's black vulcanite and the stummel's finish. Up front, the bowl stands on a sweeping, subtly lifted heel and grows towering walls nearly two and a half inches tall to a softly domed rim, offering a capacious chamber and plenty of insulation for leisurely smoking. The walls of the bowl are wonderfully curvaceous, as an Egg should be, expanding to a low-set waistline before taking on a long, easy taper to the rim while canting forward dynamically. Full with supple curves, this pipe is poised for comfortable smoking thanks to the shank and stem's deep arc, and the stummel is dressed in a crisp, chestnut-hued sandblast that reveals handsome grain.
