About This Pipe
Kai Nielsen is the eldest son of Bari pipe factory founder Viggo Nielsen and started working at Bari for "pocket money" in his teens before joining the factory full-time in 1972, at the age of 21. Now a pipe artisan of many years in his own right, Kai's designs are thoroughly Danish, as is this Apple, which Kai awarded his Jewel of Denmark designation at the "C" level.
This Apple of Kai's is fronted by a traditional, lightly-tapered bowl that wears a healthy smattering of birdseye stained a dark walnut hue. The bowl is backed with a round, muscular shank reaching back to a thin, light accent and a tapered vulcanite stem beyond. The piece stretches just outside of Nosewarmer territory at 4.7 inches and weighs in barely above one and one-tenth ounces for relatively easy clenching despite its arrow-straight orientation.
