About This Pipe

La Bruyere pipes are carved by Thomas Manzoni, a seasoned artisan who spent nearly two decades honing his craft at the Chapuis-Comoy factory in Saint-Claude, France — the genesis of modern pipe making. The weight of Saint-Claude's history is not lost on Manzoni, as he draws endless inspiration from both the pipe-making institutions and artisans around him. Having trained under skilled craftsmen Pierre Morel and Bruno Nuttens, Manzoni has cultivated a refined style that is sure to delight those drawn to updated takes on Anglo-French designs.

This elegant Lovat is one of the first of several pipes we have to offer from La Bruyere, and it certainly speaks to Manzoni's penchant for carving classic silhouettes with a contemporary twist. The bowl is quite tall and trim, with the subtlest hint of a forward cant for just a touch of dynamism to the sleek form. The shank is arrow-straight and hearty, offering ample room to drape a digit as it stretches toward the concise saddle stem. Manzoni read the grain deftly when carving this piece, and accentuated it quite handsomely with a rich, smooth finish that exudes timeless elegance.
