About This Pipe

Pete Prevost, based in Nashville, Tennessee, began his journey into pipe making after learning from renowned artisans like Jody Davis and Todd Johnson. He later went on to co-found BriarWorks, where his expertise as a pipe designer and craftsman flourished. His portfolio showcases a wide variety of shapes, ranging from Danish-inspired shapes to elements of the American school of design, all of which demonstrate exceptional craftsmanship and expert shaping.

This Tomato is a lightweight piece with a low-slung profile that carries the same relaxed orientation from bowl to stem. The squat bowl is characteristically rounded, with a full heel and softly curved walls rising to a gently concave rim. The rim sits low within the overall profile, creating a subtle contrast against the rounded contours of the bowl and the cleaner lines of the composition. A low-set, ovoid shank extends from the bowl, elongating the profile as it travels toward a sleek saddle stem dressed in khaki-hued vulcanite. The stummel wears a light sandblast that highlights beautiful cross grain along the underside of the composition. Altogether, it's a handsome example of the range found in Prevost's work, with an easygoing profile that would make an excellent addition to a collection, or a comfortable companion for everyday rotation.
