About This Pipe
Luigi Radice worked in the prestigious Castello workshop before founding the Caminetto brand with Giuseppe "Peppino" Ascorti in the late 1960s. In 1980, Radice began producing his self-titled brand of pipes with his son, Gianluca, and father, Paolo. The brand pays heavy attention to the briar that goes into each pipe, seasoning it for three years before production.
The stummel of this Billiard is finished with Radice's craggy Rind sandblast, which is stained darkly to give the pipe a slightly rocky appearance with a dark mahogany hue, though with lighter flecks of briar visible underneath. Smoothly finished cross grain adorns the rim of the bowl, and the muscular shank combines with the tapered black acrylic stem to cover most of the pipe's six-inch length, making this both a very substantial work and a very stylish one. The touch of the sandblast combined with the muscularity of the walls is quite rewarding to the fingers and is sure to make this pipe a new favorite.
