About This Pipe
The Rinaldo brothers, Elio and Guido, have been crafting pipes since they were teenagers. They got their start in 1974 working for Mastro de Paja, which was founded by Giancarlo Guidi, the legendary founder of the Ser Jacopo brand who helped create the Pesaro school of pipe making. The Rinaldo brothers founded their own two-man pipe-making workshop in 1987, and their five decades of experience have led to them being known for their expertly designed pipes that are easy to hold in the hand and grip in the teeth.
This Acorn from Rinaldo is a bulbous, Apple-like rendition of the shape. The primary feature distinguishing it from the aforementioned shape is its distinguished, angular heel. From here, the walls sprout up to the rim, round and spherical, and the shank launches at a dramatic angle into the bright acrylic stem. The half-saddle shape leaves the bottom of the stem continuing the fluid line that begins down at the heel, leading it into the bit. Within the bowl's globular walls, a reasonably capacious chamber offers plenty of room for a favorite tobacco, while the wide transition provides a comfortable place to sling a digit. The stem's golden-yellow color brings out the bright undertones in the smooth-finished stummel for a harmonious color palette.
