About This Pipe

Ser Jacopo was founded in the 1980s by legendary pipe maker Giancarlo Guidi. The workshop cultivated their signature Pesaro style, which delights in dramatic flourishes and whimsical stylings, even more so than the already playful Italian tradition. Ser Jacopo's Gem series is reserved for some of the finest briars the Pesaro workshop has to offer. Not only are these pipes immaculately shaped, but they also possess incredibly grain. The line is distinguished by its grading system, which uses gemstones to denote the quality of each pipe, ascending in order from Smeraldo ("Emerald"), Granato ("Garnet"), Zaffiro ("Sapphire"), and Rubino ("Ruby"), to Brillante ("Diamond").

This Rubino-graded Dublin features a well-canted bowl, topped with uniform plateau. The smooth and open transition leads into a tapered shank and stem, the duo's reduced proportions drawing further attention to the bowl. The overall proportions of this piece are impressive, as the bowl has a depth of over two inches, which is why it is stamped "Maxima." The bowl's ample flanks showcase enough substance to reveal wisps of flame grain that are so distinct they earn Ser Jacopo's renowned Fiammata designation. Additionally, as part of the Gem Series, this Dublin is adorned with a Ruby inlaid into the base of the stem, adding an elegant touch to a pipe worthy of its classification.
