About This Pipe
Lasse Skovgaard is one of Denmark's most renowned pipe makers, his pipes boasting superior engineering and fluid Danish shaping cues. This bent Dublin from the renowned artisan is a prime example of his mastery over the Danish tradition of pipe making. As with many Danish bent pipes, this bent Dublin has a supple curve that cradles its underside from fore rim to shank face. Said rim is plump, providing a wide canvas upon which to show off crisp, swirling lines of birdseye. The curling transition offers a snug place to rest a digit before giving way smoothly to the shank. Viewed from the side, the shank's dramatic flare echoes that of the bowl, but from above, one can see an asymmetry reminiscent of many Fish and Blowfish.
As for its practical aspects, this pipe boasts a capacious chamber boasting almost two inches of depth. Its outstretched posture and supple curvature also makes it a cozy fit in the hand, which is further elevated by the satisfying texture of a high-relief sandblast. The sandblast highlights gorgeous growth rings that cascade across the stummel, radiating out from the bowl's soft heel.
Fans of Danish pipe making looking for a longer smoke to add into the rotation will find that this bent Dublin would make a great smoking companion.
