About This Pipe
Davide Iafisco masterfully combines traditional Italian craftsmanship with influences from Danish, Japanese, and American design schools. A student of renowned artisans Teddy Knudsen and Claudio Cavicchi, Davide has developed a distinct style characterized by dynamic shapes, graceful lines, and occasional asymmetry. His pipes are celebrated for their fluid sense of movement and organic forms, often breaking from standard shapes to create unique, meticulously crafted pieces. This commitment to exceptional engineering and artistry is evident throughout his portfolio, showcasing Davide's talent and innovation in every pipe he crafts.
This bent Dublin is a handsome showcase of the Italian carver's style, featuring a distinct profile that is an interplay of soft contrours and crisp ridgelines. Although compact in size, this piece features a muscular, forward-urging bowl with supple curves and softened lines throughout. The rim is adorned with dual ridgelines along the surface, creating a pleasing contrast with the bowl's gentle contours. It's complemented by a softly bent, lenticular shank topped with a sleek saddle stem, resulting in an elegant overall silhouette. The rim showcases a smooth walnut stain enriched with attractive birdseye patterns, which also matches the shank face. The darker hues of the stummel coordinate with the well-executed sandblast, highlighting both the birdseye and the striking growth rings of the briar.
