About This Pipe
The grandson of renowned artisans Poul Rasmussen and Anne Julie, Johannes 'Suhr' Rasmussen was born into pipe making, crafting his first pipe at age eight. With no formal schools for the craft, he trained under Tom Eltang, one of the world's leading pipe makers, through a connection made by his grandmother. Eventually, he became a full-time pipe maker in 2016, and his style is shaped by a life steeped in artisan pipe making and the passion to shape his distinct style.
This Rhodesian by Shur is a bold pipe that imbues the commonly muscular shape with lithe, slender proportions. The fore's muscular bowl rises from a lifted heel, flaring to a broad, ridgeline-wrapped waist before tapering into a dramatically domed rim, creating an almost conical look in profile. The shank is low-set to the bowl, met by subtle cheeking, creating a strong visual juxtaposition between the robust bowl and slender shank. Said shank is shaped as an oval, its broad flanks offering the perfect canvas for the stunning birdseye that lines the top and underside of the stummel. The shank's shaping continues into the base of the vulcanite mouthpiece, maintaining the profile's clean, understated lines before tapering to the bit.
