About This Pipe
Il Duca pipes are the embodiment of Massimiliano "Max" Rimensi's deep-rooted passion for both pipe smoking and fine craftsmanship. Each pipe is the result of years of dedicated craftsmanship, rooted in Max's early fascination with pipe making and honed by his foundation in woodworking. Il Duca pipes are distinguished by their balance of form and function, often enhanced with unique materials and eye-catching finishes.
This Tomato is a handsome example of Rimensi's shaping style, showcasing a balanced, fluid design and a smooth finish that highlights the briar's attractive grain. One of the most defining aspects of the Tomato shape is the mid-set waist, which is prominently displayed here. The composition flows gracefully, with a sweeping profile and a dynamic shank that flares outward to a gently sloped face, continuing the piece's organic lines. An elongated stem connects via a push-style tenon, its slender proportions keeping the pipe remarkably lightweight. The stummel is dressed in a warm contrast stain, accentuating lively flame grain along the lower portion of the bowl and shank, while the rim reveals a striking display of birdseye.
