About This Pipe
As the grandson of Paul Rasmussen and Anne Julie, pipe making is in Johannes "Suhr" Rasmussen's blood. His portfolio reflects a life immersed in the traditions of artisanal pipe making.
This bent Egg from the famed Danish artisan pairs a round shank with a deeply canted, forward-surging bowl — the pipe's undercurve forming a wave-like contour for a cozy in-hand fit. The bowl's forward cant follows the paths of streaks of flame grain flitting across its surface while placing the chamber at a comfortable position for lighting the contents within. Speaking of the chamber, it boasts a respectable tobacco-holding capacity despite the pipe's compact length and tight-knit build. Out back, the shank lifts airily from a cheeked transition into a junction adorned by a bright boxwood accent. A gorgeous auburn stain colors the smooth stummel to show off a gorgeous array of grain throughout.
This pipe has a load of qualities to commend it. It would make an excellent pocket pipe for the on-the-go smoker. Its supple form, typical of the Danish style, make it comfortable to hold, while it's also easy on the eyes and a joy to look at.
