Rusticated Rhodesian Tobacco Pipe

As the grandson of Paul Rasmussen and Anne Julie, pipe making is in Johannes "Suhr" Rasmussen's blood. His portfolio reflects a life immersed in the traditions of artisanal pipe making. This lithe Rhodesian from Rasmussen shows off his proficiency in the Danish style of pipe making. It's a rounded rendition of the shape with a soft, uplifted heel from which the bowl sprouts organically. The softened heel pairs well with the swift curve of the transition to give the stummel a graceful elegance typical across much of the Danish tradition. Uniquely, the bowl's double beadlines are widely spaced, and in contrast to the rest of the stummel's rustication, the section of briar around them is smooth finished. At the border, where this smooth-finished section meets the rusticated, an interesting illusion is created of there being a third beadline. The rim is also finished smooth, its glossy and round surface showing off a stunning array of glittering birdseye that frames a moderately capacious chamber.

At a touch less than an ounce, the pipe weighs in on the lighter end of the scale, which in combination with its relatively compact length, makes it easy on the jaw. Such features also make it a nice pipe for the on-the-go smoker, and its moderate chamber capacity puts it in a nice position to host a variety of blends for any of life's occasions.
